Eddylou-isms :: vol. 01

:: anything with a bubble is called "BubbBle!"
A little vial of bubbles from Halloween, a tiny snow globe, every level. The tiny snow globe was smashed and every once in awhile I hear a forlorn "bu-ble" so I think she remembers and misses it.

:: din-tee = binkie
Tonight Eddylou asked for it in the sweetest, hopeful little voice as I laid her down in her crib. She only got to have it at naps and sleeping at night, still it was time to say goodbye for good. We were doing a gentle wean off the binkie, but today was day-1 cold turkey.

:: melmo = Elmo
The source of much toddler angst. Sharing is hard. Sharing Melmo is impossible. Side note #1: She's terribly confused and thinks Grover is also Elmo. We're working on it. Side note #2: She has one syllable sounds to identify Ernie and Cookie Monster. Big Bird gets two B sounds.

:: Ah! = water
Eddylou's version of the sign for water (pointer finger tap to the nose) was one of the first signs she picked up. The only problem is that when both parents are up front in the car we can't see that she's signing for water. She learned to grunt "ah!" to get our attention and it just kinda stuck.

:: if she's bored with you she'll wave and say "bye-bye", all while smiling sweetly

:: side = both outside and inside
Context is everything. If we're inside and I ask, "Do you want to go outside?" she excitedly walks to the door waving her arms back and forth around her round belly say, "side!" with each step or two. When she's ready to come back in, again it's a "side" with each step but a more mellow version.
